A New Orleans Staycation
If you’re like most people, you understand the feeling of being “stuck in a rut.” You probably tend to visit the same familiar restaurants and shops, doing chores and following the same schedule day after day and week after week.
Sometimes everyday life’s daily demands prevent us from enjoying the simple pleasures in our own backyards. Staycations offer a change of pace and the chance to explore your own city with fresh eyes.
Busy workweeks and family obligations dull the excitement of living in a world-famous city like New Orleans. During a staycation, you can take in the museums, festivals, parks, and restaurants that you’ve always wanted to visit. You’ll create new memories and rediscover forgotten experiences without leaving town.
You can become a tourist in your own city and learn how to see the city with new eyes.
Forget about the stress of packing, traveling, and planning a complex itinerary. Staycations offer relaxation and the freedom to experience all your city has to offer without breaking the bank or suffering the hassle of travel.
Check out our weekend itenary for a lovely Staycation at the Sully Mansion.
Enjoy delicious Sazeracs in our private garden before heading out to dinner in the Garden District.
After dinner, duck into Cure for classic and craft cocktails, as an extensive beer and wine lists and small plates. Or, make your way to Hot Tin on the roof of the Pontchartrain Hotel for a glorious view of the city and exciting and renowned mixology.
Wake up well-rested and tuck into one of Sully Mansion’s signature continental breakfasts and sip a cup of coffee under the oaks surrounding the porch.
After breakfast, stroll a few blocks from the bed and breakfast to Lafayette Cemetery #1, where you can take a self-guided tour or join a group that passes through the Cemetery on its walking tours of the Garden District.
After working up an appetite exploring the neighborhood, meander to Commander’s Palace across from Lafayette Cemetery to unwind with their signature twenty-five cent martinis.
Return to Sully Mansion to nap off your decadent lunch or head around the corner to the Garden District Bookshop to browse their selection of New Orleans and Louisiana centric books.
Refreshed after a relaxing afternoon, stroll down Magazine street to peek into one of the many shops, then decide where to eat. If you’re in the mood for oysters, walk down St. Charles Street to Superior Seafood and Oyster Bar. Or, for a cozy bistro, make your way west down Magazine Street to La Petite Grocery.
If you’re looking for after dinner drinks, hit up The Vintage, a cute wine bar, or for something entirely different, make your way to the Frech Quarter to the Carousel Bar in the Hotel Monteleone. Check out the Courtyard Brewery for a more laid-back local feel.
Enjoy another of Sully Mansion’s delicious breakfasts, or walk a few blocks to Gracious Bakery on St. Charles for fresh breads and pastries.
Hopefully, after a weekend of relaxing and exploring NOLA in a new way, you’re ready to start the week refreshed!
